Martha's Choice Bedspread Made in USA by Maine Heritage Weavers
An amazing piece of our heritage is being preserved by Maine Heritage Weavers. After the Bates Mill went bankrupt, some of the workers bought the facility and equipment, and are now producing some of the finest bedspreads around.
George Washington chose the original of this bedspread for his bride, which is why it is called "Martha's Choice". The original weave, older than Christianity was lost when textile machinery replaced skilled weavers.
Bates Fabrics had recaptured this weaving art and former employees continue this tradition at Maine Heritage Weavers.
